About Women's Ministries
The Department of Women’s Ministries exists to uphold, encourage, and empower Adventist women in their journey as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ and active members of His global church. We provide meaningful support and create safe, nurturing spaces where women grow together—mentoring one another in faith, relationships, and service.
Throughout Scripture and history, women have played a vital role in advancing God’s work—often through godly friendships like Ruth and Naomi or Mary and Elizabeth. Their legacy continues as women today are called to serve with purpose, compassion, and excellence in the home, workplace, and ministry.
As Ellen G. White affirms
“Women can be instruments of righteousness, rendering holy service. It was Mary that first preached a risen Jesus. If there were twenty women where now there is one, who would make this holy mission (one-to-one ministry) their cherished work, we should see many more converted to the truth. The refining, softening influence of Christian women is needed in the great work of preaching the truth.” —Evangelism, p. 471
Vision: Women empowered and nurtured to fulfill their God-given potential.
Mission: Our mission is in the larger sense common to all Christians—that of uplifting Christ in the Church and in the world. But more specifically, we are called to:
1. NURTURE:Reach Up to God—To help women in their devotional time and personal growth, enabling them to be nurturers in the church and community.
2. EMPOWER: Reach In with God—To equip women for their activities and projects for the church and community.
OUTREACH: Reach Out with God—To help women use small group fellowship and evangelism to reach others in their community.
Special Days
FIRST SABBATH OF MARCH
International Women's Day of Prayer
The International Women’s Day of Prayer is observed on the first Sabbath of March each year. This special day offers a meaningful opportunity for women to connect, grow spiritually, and intercede in prayer for one another. Over the years, churches have celebrated in diverse and impactful ways, including prayer breakfasts, fasting and prayer sessions, consecration services, and worship services led by women delivering the sermon.
To support local planning, a comprehensive resource manual is typically provided—offering sermon ideas, program suggestions, and a step-by-step planning guide to help make the day spiritually enriching and transformative for both women and men in the church.

SECOND SABBATH OF MARCH
Women's Ministries Emphasis Day
Women’s Ministries Emphasis Day falls on the second Sabbath of June each year. This provides an opportunity for women to lead out in a worship service and to educate the church regarding the purposes of Women's Ministries

Outreach: Reach Out with God
The Central Jamaica Conference Women’s Ministries Department leads three major outreach initiatives: Operation Huldah, Women In Service for Jesus (WISJ), and PROCLAIM.
These efforts are designed to actively engage women in public evangelism and acts of service within the church, home, and wider community.
Women In Service for Jesus (WISJ)
This initiative is observed during the month of March, aligning with key global and church-wide events. It provides a strategic opportunity for outreach and community engagement. Activities and observances during this season include:
* International Women’s Day of Prayer – A global initiative by the world church inviting women to unite in spiritual intercession and empowerment through prayer.
* International Women’s Day (Global Calendar) – A worldwide observance celebrating the achievements and contributions of women across all sectors of society.
Operation Huldah Evangelistic Series – A dynamic outreach effort led by women, focused on proclaiming the gospel and bringing hope to communities.
PROCLAIM
Young Women Impacting the Lives of Youth
Overview
PROCLAIM is an annual evangelistic initiative designed to empower younger women—especially those in the Phoebe category of Women’s Ministries—to actively engage in reaching their peers for Christ. Held between May and June, the series emphasizes intergenerational mentorship, spiritual leadership, and community impact through targeted outreach. We have successfully modelled this evangelistic series at the conference level across all three parishes. You may view the links below for reference. This initiative can also be adapted and implemented in your local church setting.
