At the 62nd General Conference Session from July 3 to 12, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri, the global Seventh-day Adventist Church witnessed an inspiring display of youth involvement as several young leaders from Jamaica took part in the impactful mission activities organized by the General Conference Youth Ministries.

Young Delegate

Among them was Jordanne Brown, the youngest delegate to represent the Central Jamaica Conference (CJC) and the Jamaica Union Delegation at the session, marking a significant milestone in her personal journey and for the Jamaican youth community.

Jordanne, a passionate advocate for digital evangelism and community service, stood as a symbol of the church’s vibrant future.

“I am overwhelmed and humbled to represent my church and my country at this global gathering,” Jordanne said. “Being part of this experience has deepened my commitment to evangelism, especially digital ministry, as I see how technology is revolutionizing the way we share the gospel.”

As a first-time delegate from CJC, she was not only honored to be part of this momentous event but also excited to contribute to the global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

“You never know where God may lead you as you serve and seek Him with all your heart,” Jordanne shared. “If you told me 5 months ago I'd be a delegate at GC, I'd laugh at you because, how? And do I even match the prerequisites? What are they? Well, God always has something up His sleeve. He called me to something more.”

Pastor Nevail Barrett, president of CJC, who also attended the session as a delegate, expressed pride in Jordanne's participation.

“Jordanne’s representation of the Central Jamaica Conference at the General Conference Session is a testament to the vibrant youth leadership in Jamaica. It’s a joy to see how God is using young people like her to further the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and we are excited to tell the world that Jesus is coming again.

Impact! St Louis

While Jordanne represented CJC as a delegate, Leon Ffrench, Ruth-Ann Brown, and Keisha Manning, attendees from the East Jamaica Conference (EJC) and Jamaica Union, respectively,  alongside Youth Ministry directors Pastor Dwayne Scott (CJC) and Joel Jumpp (EJC), participated in the Impact! St. Louis initiative, a youth-led hands-on community service project that took place from July 7-12. The mission was designed not only to serve the local community but also to inspire youth to live out their faith through action.

The youth engaged in a daily community service project, participating in a cleanup of the city of St. Louis in a crew called the “Trash Force.”

“It was incredible to see our youth actively engaged in serving their community in such a meaningful way,” said Pastor Dwayne Scott, Youth Ministries Director for CJC. “Impact! St. Louis is a unique opportunity to put our faith into action, to show the world the heart of Jesus. It is a reminder that mission is not just something we talk about, but something we do, as we prepare the world for Christ’s return.”

Divine Appointment

While carrying out their daily project, the team of volunteers ministered to a homeless man.

“I came across a young man named Matt who seemed to be down on his luck. He explained that his mother had recently passed away, and the trauma from her death had led him to make a few bad decisions, leaving him homeless. At night he sleeps in a shelter, but during the day he walks the streets,” shared Leon Ffrench.

Leon and Keisha paused to pray with Matt, who was very grateful, sharing words of encouragement and hope with him.

“I was able to pray with him, encourage him, and remind him to keep looking up, to do his best to stay clean. I pray he finds the strength to turn his life around.”

In addition to the hands-on projects, other Jamaican youth, such as Zhara Marie Mohansingh also participated in the Youth Directors Roundtable, the Young Adult Fellowship, and the Youth Lab, where they were able to engage in open dialogues about the future of the church, leadership, and mission.

Once more the Jamaican youth have shown that the mission is not limited to one geographical location but extends across the world, from the local community to the global stage. As Jordanne and her peers return home, their experience at the General Conference Session will undoubtedly fuel their desire to continue serving and spreading the message of hope and salvation.
